The initial situation of many companies: The business processes at the company level are mapped with SAP R/3. The production is automated to a large extent and supported by process control systems. What is missing very often, is the integration of the single production systems as well as consolidation of production data with data from ERP and other adjoining systems.
zcon achieves the integration of these data and the visualisation in the form of configurable Dash-Boards.

System Architecture
zcon is realised using web services and portal integrable web surfaces corresponding to service-oriented architecture. zcon can both be operated on OpenSource Application Server platforms and on SAP WAS.
zcon therefore is fully integrable with modern system architectures.
The GUI of zcon is realised as browser-enabled web surface. Thus, zcon can be operated as stand alone or fully-integrated in a portal.
The zcon standard interfaces are implemented as a WebService. These are connected preferably via a Middle-Ware such as SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) or Microsoft BizTalk. But it is also possible to send data directly via zcon client or via SQL to zcon.
Function scope, data storage and structuring
zcon collects and stores the raw data of the process and all other data sources, if desired, in a relational data base. The collected raw data is classified and edited according to their meaning within the production.
For this, typical classification objects of the production are available.
- Site Structure: zcon can flexibly represent every installation structure, so that someone can clearly navigate through the production levels.
- Material: To find out at which production batches or steps problems occur, analysis of individual manufacturing data can help narrow down and identify root causes of the problem.
- Order: The data can be linked to respective production orders. Thus you can systemically evaluate the data of single production orders.
For the storage of raw data there are, beside usual standard data types, also complex types such as status variables with a deposited status model or variables for statistical distributions.

There are standard functions available for data formatting: - Reduction: Definition of reduction intervals for raw data, where statistical parameters are stored.

Alarm management
Alarms are reported either specially from external sources or they will be generated through internal rules.
Alarms are shown in zcon and passed on to external control programmes. In the site navigator you see all alarms in real time on the production floor.
Integration zspc
zspc is a powerful tool for online statistical process control using the control card method. zspc can both be operated as stand alone and also integrated in zcon. The integration in zcon includes the integration of zspc GUI in the zcon Web-GUI as well as the integration of the alarms in the zcon alarm manager.
Integration pac
The process automation controller pac can be integrated in the Web-GUI just like zspc. The pac can be set up as data source for zcon.
Integration zpoints
zpoints integrates product orders and material management within the production in SAP. zpoints can be integrated in the zcon GUI and supplies data for comprehensive production control.
Portal integration
The Web-GUI of zcon can be integrated as a Business Package into a SAP Enterprise Portal. Together with the WebService-based communication interfaces, zcon fits in optimally into modern service oriented architectures such as SAP Enterprise Service Architecture (ESA).
